This bear represents my mom, who freestyles drinks from mug leftovers at the end of the day. She'll mix orange juice, wine, coffee, umeboshi syrup, a Taiwanese Job's tears cereal-y powder drink, turpentine, etc. Part of me thinks she makes this drink because it grosses me out.
This design was painted with Chinese paintbrushes and black calligraphy ink on thick, premium raw rice paper. It was then made into a letterpress plate, and each card was individually pressed on a vintage flatbed cylinder Vandercook press, onto soft cotton paper.
Blank inside.
Card details:
• 4-Bar / A1 folded card (3.5 x 4.875 inches)
• Paired with cognac envelope
• Cello sleeved for protection
• Printed on 118 lb. tree-free cotton paper made from 100% recovered cotton from the textile industry (that would otherwise go to a landfill)
• Printed with a hand-cranked vintage letterpress in our Los Angeles studio
